at High Tech High

2021 - Present

Teacher Resident

  • 900 hours of teaching experience co-teaching and lead teaching project-based humanities lessons for a whole academic year in an 11th-grade classroom.

  • Co-designed interdisciplinary projects with Biology teacher on climate change and the criminal justice system; collaborated with local community organizations such as the California Innocence Project, City of San Diego, the Public Defender’s office, and more.

2022 - Present

Substitute Teacher

  • Have been a substitute teacher in 6th, 9th, 11th, 12th grade classrooms.

  • Facilitated math, biology, chemistry, art, and English content. 

  • Worked with various teams to maintain the content and culture of classrooms while their primary instructor was out.

2021 

Academic Coach

  • Responsible for ensuring students with diverse needs, particularly those with I.E.P.s, are engaged with and completing the 10th-grade curriculum. 

  • Assist with the instruction and facilitation of daily exercises and long-term projects, as well as monitor progress, assignments, and presence in class. 

  • Facilitate one-on-one instruction to improve behavior, educational performance, and social relationships.

2016 - 2019

Recreation Leader

  • Coordinated day and weekend trips for students, faculty, staff, and community members to California state and national parks; including, travel, logistics, gear, food, activities. 

  • Engaged students and faculty with the natural environment and their peers, taught Leave No Trace practices, history of native land, and peoples.

  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making skills while in the backcountry and in times of crisis; special training in crisis and wilderness medicine.

2018 

English Tutor and Support

  • Assisted non-native English-speaking students, French and international, with their oral and written presentation skills.

  • Edited speeches, papers, and presentation materials for content and grammar and held personal two-hour tutoring sessions once a week per student. 

  • Took and distributed notes to ensure non-native English-speaking students understood the daily content of each course I tutored.

2016 - 2017

Head Teaching Facilitator 

  • Designed the course curriculum for Contemporary Isses: Model United Nations, the course materials, assignments, and lectures, for the public speaking general education course.

  • Managed a team of twelve undergraduate student facilitators, provided teaching oversight and workshops, and individual meetings to improve the quality of facilitation. 

  • Taught each of the three quarters, both the procedure and on the given topic of the course; the course grew from 40 to 120 students in one quarter.
